COLEMAN REUNION
The bi-annual reunion for the Coleman family was held at Fort Loudoun State Park in Vonore, Tennessee, Sunday, July 20. Approximately 75 people attended. Lunch was served at the park pavilion. Afterwards, all enjoyed fellowship. Some in attendance toured the historic fort, while others sat and got reacquainted. Cousins came from several states to attend the reunion, including Arizona, Louisiana, Missouri and Ohio.
This reunion was first held in 1974 at the Madisonville home of the late Jessie Thomas Coleman and Kate Coleman. It has been held every other year since, except in 1978 when no reunion was held. The reunion has for many years been at Fort Loudoun State Park, except for a couple years, when it was moved to the Vonore Community Center.
This reunion is held for the descendants of Jessie Coleman and Laura Ellen Self Coleman. Laura was the daughter of Rev. John S. Self and Mary Ann Barbara Tucker Self.
