" They have been assured they will be eating Thanksgiving turkey at home", said Kaye Butler, president of the Family Readiness Group operating out of the Sweetwater, Tennessee Armory. Butler's comments were made recently to The Democrat,
a Monroe County, TN newspaper. Cousin Jeff Butler, Kaye's husband, is one of about 100 guard soldiers who departed for training in June 2004 before going to Iraq later that year. The troops are most likely to re-enter the United States at Camp Shelby, Mississippi and go through a debriefing period for several days before returning to their hometowns.
"Butler will be working with local officials to plan a homecoming celebration for the soldiers when they get back. She said the troops could return at different times so a way will have to be worked out to give each of the men a good welcome home."
