PARADE OF FLAGS

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY EVERYONE. The Downtown Madisonville (TN) Association is sponsoring the "Parade of Flags" The event runs from June 30 thru July 10th. "The flags were purchased by members of the community and while many veterans are honored, anyone who wanted to honor another person for any reason was able to have a flag. The flags, on display at the (Monroe County) courthouse and Madisonville City Hall, will be up until July 11. The nearly 200 flags will then belong to those who purchased them." This is according to a story in the Sunday, July 2, 2006 Advocate & Democrat Newspaper.

I purchased a flag to display in memory of my grandfather, Charles Lawson Self. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.

The pictures above were taken this morning on the lawns of the Monroe County Courthouse and the Madisonville City Hall. The flags are a beautiful sight to behold.

God bless the Good 'ole U.S. A.

Remember our soldiers and their families.
