It is primarily for information pertaining to the SELF surname, more particularly for descendants of John J. and Lydia Avaline Waters Self, who were married in Union County, GA in 1851. Barry Self is the SELF proclaimed family genealogist and historian, having spent over 20 years researching this Self line. JAMES EARL SELF LAID TO REST


Pallbearers are shown on Thursday, January 18, 2007 carrying a casket containing the body of James Earl Self to a gravesite. Approximately 100 mourners turned out on the frigid, rainy day to say good-bye to Self, 39, and Lucille Combs, 71, who perished in a house fire on January 14 in Riceville, TN. The two were buried side by side at Rogers Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Athens, TN following a double funeral at the church.
