It is primarily for information pertaining to the SELF surname, more particularly for descendants of John J. and Lydia Avaline Waters Self, who were married in Union County, GA in 1851. Barry Self is the SELF proclaimed family genealogist and historian, having spent over 20 years researching this Self line. PICTURE GALLERY 7 FOR "MOUNTAIN MEMORIES"


The photo above is supposedly of one of the trains that was used in the "Babcock Days" in the mountains of Tellico Plains and surrounding areas to transport logs and men. Mildred Thomas wrote about the trains on pages 14 thru 16 and page 20 of "Mountain Memories". It is not known which particular train is in this photo. I do not know the identity of any of the men pictured either. Just think of "old 97".
