William C. Hancox Jr. age 80 of Alcoa, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Kindred Healthcare – Fairpark. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church and loved the Tellico Mountains. William graduated from Porter High School. He worked in bakeries in Knoxville and retired from BTR. He loved working on cars and teaching the neighborhood boys how to work on them. Preceded in death by: Parents, William “W.C.” & Anna Hancox; Son, Billy Hancox. Survivors include: Wife, Polly Self Hancox; Daughter, Laurie Wood; Grandson, Will Breeden. VIRL EUGENE (GENE) SELF OBITUARY
Virl Eugene (Gene) Self, of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away on Monday,
March 20, 2017, at the age of 85. Gene was a long time member of New Providence
Primitive Baptist Church and was retired from A.L.C.O.A. He is survived by his
wife of 59 years, Maysel Hill Self; son, Ronald Lamar Self of Maryville; sons
and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Brenda Self of Maryville, Randall and Ingrid
Self of Joao Pessoa, Brazil; granddaughter, Tabatha Wilson and husband Randy;
grandsons, Adam and Ethan Self all of Maryville; sisters and brothers-in-law,
Kathy and Bob Hubbard, Mildred and Ken Potter. Gene loved being outdoors and in
later years enjoyed working in his yard, especially with his roses.
Services will be held at New Providence Primitive Baptist in Maryville, Tennessee on Friday, March 24, 2017 with receiving friends from 1:00-2:30 pm, funeral at 2:30 pm with burial to follow in the Church cemetery. Ministers Tommy Self and Steve Whitehead officiating.
